patterns and such!

Just a couple of quick Wild & Wooly announcements and a gift for you!

I have also included below a free pattern for a quick & easy knit vest.  This pattern has been tested by Melissa in my Bend Meet-up knitting group and revised to the best of my ability.  Thanks Melissa!  The yarn for this project is available at the shop or through the website.  Special orders for colors not in stock gladly accepted.
 
 
 
 
Burly Spun Vest – short & (long)
Short - 2 skeins Brown Sheep Burly Spun 132yds/skein
(Long) - 3 skeins Brown Sheep Burly Spun 132yds/skein
Needle size 13 Gauge: 2 sts/3 rows =1in

Cast on 72
Slipping the first stitch of each row, work K 1 P 1 ribbing for 5 rows
Continuing to slip the first stitch of each row, work in Stockinette Stitch until piece
measures 9” (20” ) from cast on, ending with P row.
Slip 1st stitch and K across 18 - place 34 back stitches on one holder and 19 left front
stitches on another holder.
Shape Armhole:
Right side
Turn, bind off 2 stitches and p to end.
Slip 1st stitch and K remaining 16 stitches
Bind off 1 stitch and p to end
Slip 1st stitch and K remaining 15 stitches
Slip 1st stitch and p to end
Repeat last 2 rows until piece measures 15” (26” ) from cast on
Shape Neck:
Bind off 6 stitches and k to end
P 1 row
Bind off 1 stitch and k to end
Repeat last 2 rows once – 8 stitches remaining
Work even in stockinette stitch, slipping the first stitch of each row, until piece measures
20” (31” ) from cast on, ending with a p row, and place on holder for 3 needle bind off for
shoulder seam – break yarn and attach to stitch just below beginning of right side
armhole to work back.
Back
Continuing to work in stockinette stitch-
Take back 34 stitches off holder and bind off 2 stitches at the beginning of next 2 rows.
Then bind off 1 stitch at the beginning of next 2 rows.
Work even in Stockinette Stitch, slipping the first stitch of each row, until back measures
19” (30” ) from cast on ending with p row
K 8 stitches and break yarn about 18” out, place next 12 stitches on holder, attach yarn
and k last 8 stitches.
Turn and p across both sets of 8 stitches and place on holders for 3 needle bind off. Break
yarn about 12” out and attach to stitch just below beginning of left back armhole to work
left side.
Left side
Bind off 2 stitches and k to end
Slip 1st stitch and P remaining 16 stitches
Bind off 1 stitch and k to end
Slip 1st stitch and p remaining 15 stitches
Slip 1st stitch and k to end
Repeat last 2 rows until piece measures 15” (26” ) from cast on
Shape Neck:
Bind off 6 stitches and p to end

Work even in stockinette stitch, slipping the first stitch of each row, until piece measures

shoulder seam

Holding right sides of front and back shoulder together, remove from holder and put on
needles with ends pointing the same direction. Cast off by putting extra needle through
front then back stitch and k together onto right needle. K the next front and back stitches
together the same way, then lift first stitch over 2nd stitch and off right needle. Continue
to end, run yarn through last stitch and pull to fasten-off
With right side facing and starting at right front edge, pick up and k 15 stitches across
right front, 12stitches from holder on back, and 15 stitches across left front. Work k 1, p
1 ribbing, slipping the 1st stitch of each row, for 8 rows.
Bind off loosely.
Pick up stitches evenly down right front edge and work k 1, p 1 ribbing, slipping the 1st
stitch of each row, for 3 rows. Button holes: Continue in ribbing and cast off a knit
stitch wherever a button hole is desired. Next row, cast on a stitch where each cast off
stitch was. Continue in ribbing for 3 rows. Bind off loosely.
Pick up stitches evenly down left front edge and work k 1, p 1 ribbing, slipping the 1st
stitch of each row, for 8 rows. Bind off loosely in ribbing.
Weave in ends and block to fit.
